Opened in 2012, Kloster Engelthal combines tradition with modernity. Built around three pillars â the restaurant, banqueting and conference facilities â it offers a diverse and exciting setting. Over the past 11 years, Kloster Engelthal has developed into one of the leading catering and event venues and has received numerous awards for its architecture, staff management and overall concept, amongst other things.
Vacancies in the restaurant

On 31 August, Engelthal Monastery was named âTraining Organisation of the Year 2018â by the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture. The juryâs decision was based on the fact that the monastery not only complies with the legal requirements but also fosters a respectful and pleasant working atmosphere characterised by a high degree of transparency and openness. Furthermore, an annual âpit stopâ meeting is held, at which all staff are briefed on operational matters, figures, successes and potential. New concepts and ideas are developed in small workshops.
Engelthal Monastery has also received numerous awards for its architecture, concept and corporate philosophy.

The company strives to go above and beyond in creating working conditions that meet the demands of the job. These include, amongst other things:
- Closed on Sundays
- Closed from Christmas until New Year’s Eve
- 5-day week
- Night, Sunday and public holiday supplements
- Company outings and parties
- above-scale pay
- Subsidies for gym membership
- Contributions to private pension schemes
- Having a say in the rota
- Contributing to professional and personal development as part of a team
- The opportunity to apply your knowledge in an interesting and varied field of work
- modern operational structures

âYou can only enjoy your work if thereâs a good working atmosphere where everyone is valued and has a say. Thatâs the only way you can look forward to going to work.â
Karin Wasem
Karin and Gerhard Wasem run the restaurant business and, as a family-run enterprise, place great importance on personal contact and a sense of community. Whilst they create plenty of scope for staff to contribute their own ideas and work independently, they are personally involved in the day-to-day running of the business and are always willing to listen to their staffâs concerns. The approximately 25 staff members, including around five apprentices, make Kloster Engelthal a unique establishment with a friendly, family-like atmosphere.

“The staff were friendly and attentive, and were happy to provide information. All four dishes were well prepared, beautifully presented, of high quality and delicious.”
Quantas_01 from Frankfurt
“A fantastic seasonal menu featuring regional produce. A good selection of wines, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Weâd love to come back.”
madeyem from Mainz
“It was the most delicious goose you can eat in a restaurant. Cooked to perfection, with impeccable service! Itâs on the pricey side, but itâs definitely worth it.”
Frederik from Mannheim
