Our wines are literally award-winning.
In our home region, the Ingelheimer Grund, the origins of viticulture date back to the early first millennium. As only particularly favourable sites and soils are suitable for viticulture, growing vines and producing wine has been a privilege from the very beginning. Our family has been involved in viticulture from an early stage, with the first documented reference dating back to 1726.

The signature of the new generation
Over the past few years, we have developed a shared vision of how our wines can thrive in the 21st century. Our ideas have now come a long way, and since the 2019 vintage we have been consistently putting them into practice, fine-tuning the details and experimenting.
Our vision for the new Wasem style is already clearly evident in the current vintages. Even though many aspects are still in their infancy and there is no need to rush things. In viticulture, one naturally has to think in slightly longer timeframes than just from one year to the next.

From generation to generation – since 1726.
The buildings we manage in Ober-Ingelheim were, in the 17th century, the seat of the noble family of Ritter Hundt von Saulheim and his wife Anna Katharina, née von Rodenstein. To this day, the coat of arms of both families, carved in stone and bearing the date 1614, adorns the Rodensteiner Hof. The foundation for our business in its present modern form was laid in 1912 by Julius Wasem. He established the winery in the old noble residence on Edelgasse and set a precedent for Ingelheim as the first producer to bottle and market his own wines.
This passion was passed down to the sons, generation after generation. It was not merely a matter of maintaining and developing a financially sound business; their commitment always went a step further than mere necessity would have required. They were always driven by a special affinity for wine.
For us, tradition means always doing things just a little bit better.

Our estate wines are varietal wines that are uncomplicated and a delight to the nose and palate.
Our estate wines form the foundation of our range, offering the highest quality and serving as an introduction to our selection. A vine is depicted on the label as a symbol of the grapes’ origin.

As winegrowers, we place great importance on provenance and quality. Local wines always come from distinctive vineyards and reflect the style of wine typical of the area.
Local wines – the ambassadors of the finest soils – all come from traditional vineyards within a single village and impress with their characteristic local style. In addition to the grape variety, the label also bears the name of the village as an indication of its origin.

Our single-vineyard wines represent the pinnacle of our craft. For us, traditional vineyards are the key factor in bringing out the character of the grape variety.
Our single-vineyard wines capture not only the varietal style but also the characteristics of the soil in which they were grown. They are an expression of our commitment to creating unique wines with distinctive character. Single-vineyard wines always come from the most renowned vineyards, established over decades and centuries, which are famous for their exceptional quality and unmistakable style. These include, in our case: Ingelheimer Horn, Ingelheimer Pares, Ingelheimer Sonnenhang and Elsheimer Blume. The Burgundy wines are particularly significant for Ingelheim and our winery. We prefer to mature all our red wines in double-walled wooden barrels.

There are various formats for wine tastings at Wasem Winery. At Wasem Winery, you can book flight tastings, culinary wine tastings and classic wine tastings. The ‘wine flight’ is a relaxed tasting for groups. Three or five small wine tapas are served with matching wines, allowing the group to discuss the pairing of wines and food.
The “culinary wine tasting” is accompanied by a three- or four-course meal. A wine presenter or wine ambassador explains and comments on the wines being served.
“Classic wine tastings” are led by a tasting host or wine ambassador and feature six wines. We serve bread and water to accompany them.
