Impressive Burgundies
At the 2026 Gourmetwelten Red Wine Cup, the Wasem Winery impressed the judges with several of its red wines. During the prestigious blind tasting, which took place at the China Club Berlin, wines from Germany and Austria were judged by a panel of experts.
The estate’s Burgundy wines proved particularly successful: the 2021 Spätburgunder Ingelheimer Burgberg scored 94 points, whilst the 2022 Frühburgunder Ingelheimer Horn and the 2022 Pinot Noir Reserve were each awarded 93.3 points.
The results underscore the winery’s consistent commitment to quality and confirm its reputation as a leading producer of elegant, terroir-driven red wines from Rheinhessen.

Award-winning sparkling wine
At the 2025 Golden Grape Awards, the Wasem Winery’s Reserve Blanc – brut nature 2020 sparkling wine was awarded the gold medal in the Burgundy varieties category.
At the tasting, the sparkling wine impressed with its clear, precise style: on the nose, it reveals yeasty and nutty notes, accompanied by subtle earthy hints, tart citrus aromas and stone fruit. On the palate, it is cool, slender and straightforward, with a fine effervescence, lively acidity and an elegant, mineral-driven structure. The long, salty-tart finish underscores its consistent focus on finesse and depth.

“The winery, situated next to Engelthal Abbey, has successfully managed the transition from the parents’ generation to that of their sons. The wines have character and a distinctive style, particularly the Pinot Noirs. The 2022 vintage from the top Ingelheim vineyard, Pares, shines with velvety tannins, a violet bouquet and a medley of red and blue fruits. It is surpassed only by the 2022 Pinot Noir Réserve with its seductive fruit sweetness.”
